
What inspired you to start NMD Marketing?
Naomi Davies founder of NMD Marketing said: “The short story is I just love fashion! You should see my shoe collection. The long version is that launching NMD Marketing in 2018 was the culmination of years of passion for both business and fashion. My time working client-side gave me a unique insight into the struggles fashion and luxury brands face. It’s not just about standing out in a crowded market; it’s about finding marketing solutions that seamlessly reflect their identity and resonate with their audience.
I recognised a gap in the market for an agency that doesn’t just focus on strategy but also offers tailored, hands-on support. With NMD Marketing, my aim has always been to honour the creativity and individuality of these brands while delivering measurable results that help them grow and thrive.”
What challenges have you overcome as a female founder, and how have they shaped your success?
Naomi Davies said: “Balancing maternity leave with running a business has been one of the most significant challenges I’ve faced as a founder. It’s a delicate juggling act—stepping back to embrace personal milestones while ensuring the business continues to move forward.
This experience taught me the power of boundaries and the importance of trusting my team to manage the day-to-day operations. It also gave me space to focus on strategic goals and long-term vision, which has ultimately made the business stronger. Challenges like these remind me that resilience, flexibility, and a reliable support network are invaluable tools for any entrepreneur.
I’ve also had to adapt. A lot of female founded fashion brands are just starting out. And they can’t always afford our services (yet) but need our support. I created the Elevate Programme for start-ups and side-hustles so they can get help with ads and emails for a fixed price in a three month course”
What advice would you give to other women starting their founder journey?
“My advice? Go for it! Push aside imposter syndrome and take that first step.
Surround yourself with a strong support network, particularly other women founders who can relate to the unique challenges you’ll face. They’ll be invaluable sounding boards and sources of encouragement.
Learn to delegate early on. It’s tempting to try to do everything yourself, but trusting others to share the load will make all the difference—not just for your business but for your own well-being.
And remember, don’t compare yourself to others. Everyone’s journey is different, and success doesn’t have to look the same for everyone. Focus on your goals, and trust your path.”
